A long story with 22 movies has come to an end, the saga might be done, but not the franchise. Marvel Cinematic Universe began its story with Iron Man way back in 2008 and now in 2019, the Infinity Saga has come to an end with a powerfully emotional end. MCU is the highest grossing franchise till date and Marvel Studios might want to keep it that way, the only way for that to happen is to produce more films. According to reports, Marvel has films ready for 2020, 2021 and even 2022. Though all of the films didn’t reach the production stage, most of the pre-production is done. With the latest Fox deal, we cannot expect what is going to happen. Deadpool might replace the cameos of Stan Lee in the upcoming films of MCU!
The Avengers got a necessary end and to protect the world we need a new set of heroes. We already have a new set, but they are not together as a new team. Through comics, we know there are greater threats than that of Thanos. To fight these new threats, here are a couple of superheroes whom we will be seeing on screen in the near future.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Peter Parker will be going away from America this time to fight the bad guys. The trailer of Far From Home was out and fans had doubts about Tony Stark since then. There were many speculations about the fate of Iron Man because he was no were to be seen in the trailer. Avengers: Endgame has confirmed the sad truth about Iron Man. In Far From Home, Spider-Man will be meeting a new mentor who is none other than Nick Fury. The future events of Endgame might be explained in Far From Home if it is a sequel. Endgame missed out the post events of undoing the snap, half the population came back after 5 years, that might be traumatizing to everyone all over the universe. Spider-Man: Far From Home will feature Jake Gyllenhaal as a new villain called Mysterio.
Wait, she isn’t alive! I know that hence the movie might be a prequel that takes place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. If my guess goes right, the movie might showcase the beginning of Natalia Alianovna Romanova and her journey in becoming one of the most dangerous agents followed by joining the Avengers. It was disclosed in Endgame about the parents of Natasha, while she was on Vormir. When Red Skull knew about Black Widow’s parents, she revealed to Hawk-Eye that she didn’t have a clue about her own father, that question of why? Will be answered in her stand-alone film – Black Widow.
The concept of Guardians of the Galaxy being introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a huge success. After noting that, Marvel Studios are comfortable with introducing a new species of humanity into the MCU called The Eternals. From the latest updates, Indie filmmaker Chloe Zhao will be directing the film, the shooting might begin in the month of August 2019. The most recent reports suggest that Angelina Jolie will be playing the role of Sersi. Kumail Nanjiani is rumored to play a role in the movie. A little more about Eternals that can be discussed is that it was created by Jack Kirby.
Long ago, approximately 5 million years ago, the celestials visited the earth and performed experiments on human which resulted in the creation of The Eternals.
Doctor Strange 2
The one supreme sorcerer who saw Avengers: Endgame long before any of us – Doctor Strange. He survived and now he will be getting another film. Scott Derrickson who directed Doctor Strange will be back to handle the sequel, the deal was done with no much attention. If you remember the post credit scene of Doctor Strange, you will know who stands as a new threat, but apart from that, we know that Nightmare — an evil ruler of the “Dream Dimension” will be introduced as an antagonist. The film’s production is planned to begin in the early 2020 and will be released in May 2021.
Scott Derrickson’s tweet, which he deleted in no time, raised speculation about Namor being introduced in MCU.
Black Panther 2
Black Panther (2018) went all the way to Oscars and won 3 Academy Awards. A sequel to the superhero is very much anticipated and we are lucky that Marvel has considered in bringing up one. Black Panther 2 will be directed by Ryan Coogler and the second installment won’t be released before 2021.
Black Panther’s story is not in the rounds yet, but T’Challa being non-America is a big boom to Marvel Studios. They got non-American fans now, the continent of Africa is under their grip in terms of fandom. The king of Wakanda will return to his throne after 5 years from being vanished to dust.
A Chinese name, which means an Asian superhero. We saw Iron Fist before, who had Asian connections, but he was America. But now, Marvel is going complete Asian. Destin Daniel Cretton was approached to direct the movie, but there is nothing much revealed out yet. Rumors are that the filming will happen in Sydney and Shang-Chi will have no superpowers but he is called the ‘Master of Kung Fu’.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3
I’d rather call it Asgardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn returns to direct the third and final sequel about a bunch of Assholes. We shouldn’t forget about Thor, who joined the Guardians at the end of Avengers: Endgame, giving away his throne to Valkyrie.
Chris Hemsworth who plays as The God of Thunder in MCU said that he is happy to work with Marvel even after his role of being an Avenger has come to an end.
Will Thor join the Guardians in Volume 3? He might and there are a lot of chances of that happening, we’d love to see that. Now that all the Guardians are back again, except for Gamora, we saw Peter Quill staring at a hologram with her picture on it, the upcoming part might be about her. The plot hole of Nebula shooting her past self might be answered too.
That was all about the movies that are going to be released by Marvel. If the studios decide on giving every superhero a trilogy, we’ll know for sure that Ant-Man and The Wasp will be on screen again, Captain Marvel will have her movies too and she might be leading the MCU in phase 4.
All that we need now is a new team superhero time to kick asses and bring back the thrill that we experienced with The Avengers.
