Walt Disney Pictures’ Aladdin managed to score a rating of 6.9/10 at IMDb and 60% at Rotten Tomatoes, a huge crumble over the hype and expectations.
The movie is just like the animated hit from 1992, but isn’t any better.
Will Smith as The Genie is good when copying Robin Williams.

A perfect copy of the animated Aladdin movie from 1992 with new actors and new visuals. A good entertainer for kids who have no idea about the adventures of Aladdin. If you happen to know the story of Genie and the magic lamp, it’s pretty sure you will be bored.

If you happen to watch the animated movie from 1992, which is also named Aladdin. You will find the same story, same characters, same drama, and the same magic. There is nothing much to differentiate, other than the newness and new tech used to make the movie. Disney tried to make the exact movie and to say, it was ditto, but only to turn out less entertaining than the animated movie.
Do you really want a story briefing, every child must have heard of the Aladdin story somewhere or the other? But yet, I will spell out the synopsis. Aladdin, an urchin, who lives in the city Agrabah stealing things with his money, Abu. One day he confronts a beautiful young lady and falls for her. This lady turns out to be Jasmine, Princess of Agrabah.
The king/Sultan is searching for a suitable prince to get her daughter Jasmine married, who has the qualities of a ruler and keep Agrabah safe and peaceful. Right amidst all of these, Jafar, the second most powerful person in Agrabah, but not as powerful as Sultan seeks power, which can be gained with the help of The Genie.
The later story is how Aladdin puts efforts to marry Jasmine and finds the lamp, he also has to face evil Jafar.
Apart from discussing the story, the visuals are good, not that good, but quite good. The movie is watchable with no expectations. The humor is as usual, but the most lovely part is the soundtrack. A phenomenal job was done on the music selection and placement. It helped the story move forward in a fine way, after all its Disney. Aladdin’s Story involves a lot of magic which was depicted at its best. The quality of visually presenting fantasy in movies is getting better and this movie is what we can ask for, for good CGI and graphics.
The most epic soundtrack was ‘A Whole New World’ by ZAYN & Zhavia Ward. When Aladdin and Jasmine fly off from the balcony on the magic carpet in the moonlight, they start singing this song, it was breathtaking, not because of the graphics on the screen but the song was actually amazing.
Told you already, the animated movie back in 1992 was a lot better than this. The movie has a lot of clichés and the whole story is expected, little changes and surprises should have been there. If you are familiar with the story, then you won’t enjoy the movie. Coming to the Genie, Will Smith did a pretty good job, he was really good but not as good as Robin Williams. I am sure, Will Smith knew, he would be compared if he portrayed the role, but he chose to do it, thinking he can do it better, but Sorry Will, you are the second best.
I know the review is short, it’s because I had to watch the movie in another language, not English. Most of the dialogues didn’t remain the same and the songs are sung differently. I am not willing to take the risk of judging the move to the deepest. But honestly, the movie is emotionally appealing. It gives a good ride in the city of Agrabah. The casting was perfect. The actors nailed it. The only downfall of the movie is its familiarity. Jungle Book by Disney was a common story too, but it held nerves and was awesome, Aladdin did not do the same, but the kids, the little ones who are new to the magic of Genie will love the movie. A family entertainer with all required elements of fun, adventure, and fantasy.
