Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is a hit and Ryan thinks he is born to do play this character. Fans think the same too. Deadpool is a weird little superhero whose movies gotta be R-rated to be enjoyed to the fullest and Fox did a good job in keeping it that way. Fox planned future X-men movies and Deadpool movies to get darker and lead might lead to X-Force.
When Marvel got hold of things and allowed Deadpool to enter MCU, it has got fans worried about the upcoming movies not being R-rated, because of MCU right? All of the movies of Marvel Cinematic Universe are PG-13. But now, after the update from Deadpool writers, there is nothing to worry about.
Deadpool co-writer Paul Wernick said this to EW while doing promotions for Zombieland: Double Tap,
We’re always in touch with Ryan… I think the party line and truth is we’re all still figuring it out. Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox. Our feeling and Ryan’s feeling is that it’s got to be the right idea, it’s got to be great… I think once we collectively agree on what idea that great idea is we’ll be off to the races. Ryan’s super-busy, we’ve got a lot of projects lined up, but we wake up thinking about Deadpool, and we go to sleep thinking about Deadpool.
This gives a good idea about the Disney-Fox deal. The answer to whether Deadpool will continue to appear in R-rated movies and MCU will remain PG-13 is given. Marvel can use the 20th Century Fox brand to distribute R-rated Deadpool movies and keep MCU PG-13 as usually. The real debate of whether Deadpool movies need to be R-rated is over if all that is said by Paul Wernick is true.
