Golden Globe Awards 2020: Nominations and Winners List

77th Golden Globe Awards came by with a lot of surprises, memorable speeches and many spoke about climate change too. Netflix was dominating the ceremony with 34 nominations in films and television categories, though it lost the big award, Best Motion Picture to Sam Mendes’ 1917 who also won the Best Director. There were a lot of hopes for The Irishman and Marriage Story, but they lost to 1917. The most expected award winner was Joaquin Phoenix for Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Joker was fantastic, speaking of which, Hildur Guðnadóttir won Best Orginal Score from Joker. Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood won Best Screenplay, Best Performance in a Supporting Role(Brad Pitt) and Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category.
HBO’s Chernobyl did well too. It won Best Television Limited Series and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series(Stellan Skarsgård). The movie about Elton John with the name Rocketman took the award for Best Original Song, Music by Elton John himself. Taron Egerton playing the role of Elton John made him win Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture in the category of Musical or Comedy. Disney did not win the Best Animated Movie, though 3 out of 5 movies nominated were of Disney; Frozen II, The Lion King and Toy Story 4. Missing Link directed by Chris Butler is the Best Animated Movie.
