Avengers: Endgame featured one of the best climax battles of all time. All the Avengers teamed up to fight Thanos and his army preventing him from snapping again which will wipe out all the universe at once. Thanos played by Josh Brolin wasn’t lucky enough to make the snap, but Tony Stark aka Iron Man was. He snapped turned Thanos and his army to dust. But that cost Tony’s life. This was the only possibility where the Avengers had a chance to win from the other 14,000,605 scenarios. Meaning that, in order to win, Iron Man must definitely die in the end. Which in return meant Robert Downey’s last(being alive) appearance as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That turned out well for RDJ. How Much Did Robert Downey Jr. Earn from Avengers: Endgame?
Robert Downey Jr. made his 9th appearance in Endgame as Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist or simply called as Iron Man in the MCU. The salary of the actor was $20 million, but the negotiations did not end there. Robert ensured he owned a percentage of the profit of the movie after its collections. Meaning, Robert Downey gets a percentage of money which Avengers: Endgame earns. Now that Avengers: Endgame went on to make $2.7 billion at the box office, owning a little percentage of it will turn out to be a fortune.
That’s what exactly happened here. Robert Downey Jr. cuts of the back-end profits of Endgame with around 8%, which made him earn additional of $55 million. Adding his salary and the back-end profits, he managed to make $75 million. That is a huge amount.
This makes him the highest-paid Avenger again. Downey’s first appearance as Iron Man in 2008 has laid foundations for all of this. His salary then was low, but the renegotiations have changed his package. Robert’s role in Spider-Man: Homecoming alone has made him $5 million.
Here’s what Marvel President Kevin Feige had to say about the paycheck,
The percent of budget cost have certainly skewed heavy, particularly on the Avengers movies, to cast now, whereas maybe in the early ones it was more visual effects or below the line.
But that’s okay because [the actors] are the best effects.
The other actors at Marvel are doing well too. Scarlett Johansson is returning for a standalone movie, Black Widow in 2020. She reportedly would earn around $20 million. Same as Downey. Both Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans renegotiated too, that settled them around $15 million to $20 million for both Infinity War and Endgame.
