The Matrix marks its 20th anniversary in 2019. An after 20 long years, there is a green light to the fourth installment to the franchise. After a lot of talking the 4th Matrix movie will see Michael B. Jordan in the lead role. Most of the team is coming back, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are returning For Matrix 4.
According to a report from Variety, a sequel for Matrix is in development, written and directed by Lana Wachowski. Furthermore, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are ready to produce and distribute the movie globally. The chairman of Warner Bros., Toby Emmerich made the official announcement on Tuesday.
We could not be more excited to be re-entering the Matrix with Lana. She is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.
The script of the movie was co-written by Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell. The production is set to begin in early 2020. Though the release date is not out yet, the movie won’t release before 2021. Wachowski said,
Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends
