Andrzej Sapkowski, the world-famous author is going to be more famous. Netflix has made a TV show adapting his popular fiction novel series, The Witcher. Most writers and producers try to make a whole season out of one book for a series, but the executive producer of The Witcher, Tomek Bagiński told in an interview with ComicBook.com, he told they couldn’t fit the whole book and not everything is used from The Last Wish.
Actually the books were a lot more source material than we could fit into eight episodes, so we have to really be very, very careful with choosing which stories we want to tell. And Lauren [S. Hissrich, showrunner,] did a really great job. Not only choosing the right stories to tell the story of Geralt but also by giving some background both to Yennefer and to Ciri. Because for us the goal was always to tell a bigger story. A bigger story comes up first with the saga, and the saga there is not only about Geralt and his friends, but it’s also about Yennefer, it’s also about Ciri, and we knew that we have to build those characters earlier.
The show will head in a direction where Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri define their relationship with one another and realize they need for one another even if they think they don’t. Geralt is played by Henry Cavill(Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman & Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Yennefer is played by Anya Chalotra(The ABC Murders, Wanderlust, Sherwood) and Freya Allan(Bluebird) will be playing Ciri.
