Comic book movies are a big thing now. Since the last two decade, there’s been a huge growth in comic book movie releases. Marvel and DC are the top two companies that are leading in the superhero industry. They have established cinematic franchises, gave fictional characters connecting movies and also brought many loved characters together on screen. The Avengers is a good example, which brought Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawk-Eye together. DC Extended Universe’s Justice League tried something similar to The Avengers but failed miserably. Deadpool featuring Ryan Reynolds is another classic superhero movie we needed. Animated movies like Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Big Hero 6, The Incredibles are part of the race too.
20. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
A slightly twisted movie which explores the possibility of what might happen after an assassination. The movie includes Wolverine, Charles Xavier, Erik Lehnsherr, Mystique, Storm and other mutants who fight Sentinels. Sentinels are robots designed to kill mutants. Logan has to travel back in time to stop Bolivar Trask’s assassination, which triggers the creation of Sentinels. Days of the Future Past is one of the best movies in X-Men franchises which has grand action and adventure.
19. Black Panther (2018)
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther grossed more than a billion dollars at the box office. It stars Chadwick Boseman in the lead and Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger. Both did a phenomenal job at portraying their roles. Black Panther dives into the story of Wakanda and its core source of power, vibranium. This is a movie made by blacks and gave Africa their own superhero. Black Panther won Academy Award for Best Original Score, Academy Award for Best Costume Design and Academy Award for Best Production Design.
18. Batman Begins (2005)
Style of superhero movies had to change after Batman Begins was made. Christopher Nolan’s style of making movies is different. Batman’s origin story was explored in the best way possible back then and Nolan tried his ways in telling the story of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman and guess what? Batman Begins was a huge success. All superhero movies before Batman Begins were bright and cheerful, but this movie changed a lot of things and became a pioneer for dark superhero movies.
17. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Marvel Cinematic Universe was already successful and gained a lot of fandom before GOTG. But Kevin Feige wanted to explore the space part of MCU and introduced Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn directed the movie with good star cast which includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. These names made the movie more exciting even before it was released. GOTG is a funny space superheroes movie, incorporates a lot of action and fantasy with necessary music.
16. Unbreakable (2000)
M. Night Shyamalan is a crazy guy from India who directed amazing movies like The Sixth Sense and Split. He happened to direct Unbreakable too, starring Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and Robin Wright. As far as supernatural based movies go, Unbreakable is an underrated masterpiece and needed more fame than it already has. The story revolves around David who meets with a train accident and then discovers that he has superpowers through Elijah Price.
15. Big Hero 6 (2014)
A heartbreaking yet sweet movie by Disney. Hiro is talented in robotics and loses his brother, which makes him join hands with Baymax and his friends to avenge his brother’s death. Don Hall directed the movie. Big Hero 6 is a superhero movie for kids with many relatable characters that interest every nerd and geek.
14. Wonder Woman (2017)
While all superhero movies were male-driven and male-dominated, DCEU came up with Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot, directed by a female director, Patty Jenkins. This movie is about Woman empowerment and feminism. The story goes back to the era of World War. Princess Diana learns about the war after rescuing a US pilot named Steve. She then decides to stop Ares, the god of war from destroying the world. Wonder Woman has astonishing action sequences which won awards globally.
13. Logan (2017)
As mentioned before, Huge Jackman holds the record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero”. But now, his role as Wolverine ended with Logan. After a lot of movies in which he played Wolverine, the story of the character had to end. This movie is the most rightful end the character might have possibly got. Its dark, painful, insane and sad. Huge Jackman’s acting was impressive.
12. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Thor and Thor: The Dark World were very bad failures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Norse god needed a good movie to end his trilogy and then Marvel met Taika Waititi. People still say Thor: Ragnarok to be one of the best Marvel Cinematic Universe movies till date. Thor’s hammer gets destroyed, Goddess of Death, Hela, returns, Thor & Hulk battle each other. There is a lot that happens in this movie. Loads of humour and breathtaking fights made it a superhero classic of all time. Just because of Thor: Ragnarok’s success and Thor’s immortality, Thor 4 is in the making and set to release on 5 November 2021.
11. Deadpool (2016)
Ryan Reynolds is destined to play the role of Marvel’s Deadpool and when destiny plays a role, weird magic begins to happen. Deadpool is a result of a lot of struggle and hard work. A very unique superhero movie where the hero breaks the fourth wall like its nothing. Deadpool is a violent goof movie about Wade Wilson, who finds he is going to die soon, due to cancer. To cure it, he lands himself at an experiment lab, run by Ajax. Ajax curses his cancer but leaves him deformed, this makes Wade become Deadpool. A highly dangerous superhero who sets out a journey to revenge his deformity.
10. The Incredibles (2004)
Animated movies are divergently themed concepts. Superheroes have evolved from comic books to animated TV shows and movies to live-action movies. As technology became more advanced and better, animation became a very good way to make fiction and fantasy based movies. All the superhero stuff which includes fights, special abilities and other creative stuff became easy to be shown in animated movies. The Incredibles has set a benchmark to all the animated movies. The story was also very new back then, a retired superhero who is stuck in a white-collar job is forced to wear his cape back. All of his family members have superpowers and the world needs to be saved as usual.
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
After sleeping for 70 years, Steve Rogers notices that the world has changed a lot. S.H.I.E.L.D. is at high risk and Captain America meets a new enemy called Winter Soldier. Joe Russo directed the movie. The Winter Soldier is the best film in the Captain America Trilogy. The fighting will make you impatient. There’s Black Widow, Falcon and Nick Fury to spice the story. Chris Evans did his best as Captain America.
8. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
The third part of the Avengers franchise. After Captain America: Civil War, Avengers split up, but a bigger threat arrives. When a mad purple titan named Thanos is done collecting all six infinity stones, he gains the power of destroying half of the life in the universe. All the superheroes must come together and fight the enemy. The movie comprises a lot of CGI and VFX that will blow your mind, Infinity War is the farthest place Marvel went in terms of action. Millions of dollars spent to bring a story that fans have been hyped for a decade.
7. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Sam Raimi’s send instalment into the Spider-Man trilogy, where Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and turned millions of audiences into fans. Alfred Molina played Doctor Octopus which made the movie more interesting. Peter Parker begins to lose his superpowers, lose his love, Mary Jane and also his job is at risk. Amidst all this chaos, he must fight the bad and protect New York. The crazy train scene from this movie, where Spider-Man stops a metro train using spider web was sensational.

4. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
This movie had the job to conclude the whole Infinity Saga, all the 21 movies before were to be given justice. Did the movie do it? Yes, it did. Many people say, Avengers: Infinity War had more action than Avengers: Endgame, yes, that’s true, because it had to be that way. Infinity War elevated the story so that Endgame can easily conclude and take you on an emotional ride that completes all the story arcs. Endgame is basically a 3-hour long journey of all 6 main Avengers fulfilling their destiny.

It all began with this. Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn’t exist if Iron man had failed. Robert Downey Jr. began his journey as Iron man, the whole story kicked off with his science fiction thriller. Jon Favreau directed the movie and his job was incredible. Tony Stark and Robert Downey Jr. shared the same personal demons which made the story realistic and legendary. British movies have their own smack. Unlike Hollywood, British movies get higher ratings on an average count. V for Vendetta is a vigilante movie. The movie has lump some amounts of dialogues that are still popular and heard over and over again. “Ideas are Bullet Proof”, is the most famous dialogue from the movie. The script was perfect and execution made it come real. Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman shared bewildering chemistry on screen. V, a masked vigilante fights against the corrupted evil government with the help of Evey.

Christopher Nolan again! The Dark Knight is a rare movie altogether. It is merely impossible for us to see another movie of this sort. The story building happened to be at its best. This is a sequel movie to Batman Begins. Heath Ledger played Joker in the movie, the villain from Gotham City who wants to bring out the originality of people, which he thought to be evil. Heath Ledger won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The Dark Knight is the best superhero movie ever, even after 10 years since it was released. It is still watched over and over. Brilliant minds were put to work for this movie and it’s worth it.
